Gaida Times

March 3, 2019

This is a story about the struggle of a rhinoceros whose father’s horn was smuggled and the smugglers were caught. Now he intends to return the horn to Bardia National Park  and goes to Kathmandu.

In the  jungle, when a rhinoceros was resting under the tree, unexpectedly a gun shot was fired. It creates a sudden chaos in the jungle. Monkey is the only one educated animal in the jungle and he is also Gaidu’s (rhinoceros) Mitbaa (fatherly relation). According to Mitbaa’s ( fatherly relation) information, two girls were killed during the clash of armies and maoist. Immediately, people leave Gaidu’s ( rhinoceros) elder brother with a GPS. It invites a huge problem in the lives of the jungle specially to the rhinoceros.

Right after, in some days rhinoceros’s father’s horn is smuggled. He is the leader of the jungle. Other animals are questioning him and asking for the resignation stating that if he cannot save his own horn and crown then how can he protect his fellow animals. This made Gaidu ( rhinoceros) to be mentally deranged and walks to Kathmandu promising that he will return his father’s horn. He manages to go to Kathmandu through a truck however there’s noone to support him in Kathmandu. He finds a shelter in Doctor Karmadas Pasinijiwi who writes about rhinoceros in newspapers but Pasinijiwi only uses him. He makes the rhinoceros to play in commercials, walk on ramp shows and events but doesn’t help him to find the horn. After six months, the rhinoceros realizes and says that it’s better off to be a crownless rhino than being a person without dignity and returns back to the jungle.
