Representatives from selected local governments will discuss the steps they are taking to ensure that theatre and art thrive in their communities, from funding initiatives to providing platforms for local artists. This conversation will shed light on how decentralization has impacted the arts and how local levels are nurturing cultural expression across the country.

A rare and intimate conversation between veteran Nepali artist Haribansha Aacharya and youth theatre icon Bijay Baral, Simalī Chāyāmā Basī offers a reflective look at their personal and professional journeys. In this one-on-one interaction, they will discuss their challenges, triumphs, and the lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers in Nepali theatre. As they rest beneath the metaphorical shade of a tree, they will share stories of their early years, the evolution of their craft, and the state of Nepali theatre today. Policies for Art and Literature in Nepali Politics will bring influential politicians into a conversation about their views on the role of arts in Nepali society. Politicians will discuss their party’s stance on supporting the arts, and how they envision the future of theatre and literature in the context of national development.
