About the Performance:
Ashtangika is a mesmerizing musical dance theatre performance that brings to life the timeless wisdom of Buddha through an evocative fusion of poetry, music, and movement. Rooted in the essence of indigenous wisdom, the piece transcends geographical narratives to focus on the transformative teachings that have guided humanity for centuries. Rather than limiting Buddha’s legacy to his birthplace, Ashtangika illuminates his path of enlightenment, compassion, and inner liberation—universal truths that resonate across cultures and generations. In harmony with the theme of NITFest 2025, this performance embodies the "Light of Indigenous Wisdom," inviting audiences to experience the depth of Buddha’s teachings as a living philosophy that continues to inspire and heal the world today.
The performance will be followed by a keynote speech from Ven. Bhikkhu Ananda on the Buddhist Philosophy and Indigenous Wisdom. Ven. Bhikkhu Ananda is a scholar and monk from Nepal who lectures in Buddhist Studies at Tribhuvan University and actively promotes Buddhist peace values through the Global Buddhist Peace Mission.
