About the Performance:

Dhime baja is an ancient musical instrument played by the native Jyapu  community of Nepal Mandal. Nowdays, the entire Newa community play this instrument as an indigenous musical instrument and is known worldwide as the Nepali musical instrument. The deep, rhythmic pulse of Dhime baja, echoes in rituals, festivals, and celebrations, binding people to their past and nature itself. Its sound moves bodies, stirs emotions, and brings stories to life.

Charya dance is a sacred Buddhist dance, Each movement and gesture (mudra) carries deep spiritual significance, embodying wisdom and compassion. Performed as a meditative offering, its movements and mudras embody spiritual wisdom, connecting dancers to deities. Preserved and passed down by Newa community of Kathmandu, it remains a living tradition, blending devotion, art, and heritage.

Tonight, we invite you to step into this living rhythm, to dance with us to the beats of Charya and Dhime, to seek the stories hidden in sound and movement. Let the pulse of the past shape the joy of the present, as we celebrate this festival together!
