This workshop, led by Li Jun, director of Mo Chou Mo Chou, the Chinese physical theatre performance scheduled at NITFest 2025 offers Nepali theatre practitioners an immersive exploration of how Xiqu (Traditional Chinese Opera) elements inform physical theatre. Hosted by Nanjing Dramatic Theatre, the session delves into: 

  1. Understanding Physical Theatre – A look at global and Chinese perspectives. 
  2. Merging Tradition & Modernity – Exploring Xiqu’s movement, gesture, and spatial techniques in physical storytelling. 
  3. Director-Actor Collaboration – Training methods for body control, emotional articulation, and ensemble synchronization. 
  4. Multidisciplinary Techniques – Hands-on demonstrations of mime, acrobatics, and symbolic choreography. 

Through a mix of theory and practice, participants will gain innovative tools to integrate classical performance techniques into contemporary theatre, fostering cross-cultural storytelling.
